Step 1: Head over to Spotlight search and look out for MySQL.
Step 2: Launch the MySQL system preferences and check if there’s a tick on “Automatically Start MySQL Server on Startup” checkbox.
If yes, untick the checkbox.
Step 3: You can also opt to Stop MySQL Server instance when not in use. Anyways, it’s always better to kill processes when not in use.
Just tap the Stop MySQL Server button and it’ll stop running in the background.
